Web Application creation on SharePoint Server 2013


                      Step by step Creation of Web Application on SharePoint Server 2013.


   1.  Central Administration--> Application management

 
Manage Web Applications


 2.  Click on New


New Web Application

 

 3. Enter IIS web site name:


                            Select Port:

 


Create New

 4. Enter Application Pool Name:


Public Url

 

 

 5. Enter Content Database name:

 6. Select Service Application those will be connected to web application.

Click on OK to create web application. This will take few seconds.


8. Once the web application is created. Go to Application Management >> Create Site Collection

 

     Select Web Application which was just created.


9. 
Enter Title:

10. Select Template: Team Site


      Select Experience Version: 2013


       Primary site collection administrator: spadmin

 


Template

 11. Click on OK.


             Visit just created Team site collection.

         Step by step Configure User Profile Service Application on SharePoint Server 2013

  

  1.  Central Administration--> Application management-->Manage service applications.

   2.  Manage service applications-->New-->User Profile Service Application.

  3.  Provide the following details:

          Name

        Application Pool Name

        Service Account: farm but change it to a service account later after creation

         Database Server Name: 

        My Site Host URL:

         My Site Managed path:

        Site Naming Format:

   4.  Click OK

5. Start the following Service

     User Profile Synchronization Service

6. Run an IISRESET.



7.  To configure a synchronization connection, 

 Central Administration >> Application Management >>Manage Service Application >> User Profile Service >> Configure Synchronization Connection

 8. Add a new connection

 9.  Provide the Sync Connection Name

             Select Active Directory

             Provide the Domain Controller Name

             Select the Authentication Provider as Windows Authentication

             Provide the Service Account details

Service account should be Read Delegation rights on Active Directory Domain Controller

   10.  Click on Populate Containers

        Select the Containers where you have got users.

  11.  And after that click "OK". After that go to User Profile Service Application

  12. Click on "Configure Synchronization Timer Job". Set time intervals for sync there

  13. Go to User Profile Service Application and click on "Start Profile Synchronization" to start sync.

  14. This is first time so we are choosing sync, choose "Full sync"

   Now Synchronization Status” has changed from "Idle" to "Synchronizing".

15. Click on the “Synchronizing” link to get the sync status

 

After the sync is completed, the status changes again “Idle”, and the results of sync in the Profiles section.

16. Again go to User Profile Service Application and click on "Manage User Profiles".

Configure Search Service Application on SharePoint Server 2013

             Step by step Configure Search Service Application on SharePoint Server 2013

 

  1.  Central Administration--> Application management-->Manage service applications

   2.  Manage service applications-->New-->Search Service Application.

  3.  Enter Service application Name: Search Service Application 

         And Search Service Account : Search

Enter Application Pool name for Search Admin Web Service 

        and Search Service Account : Search

  5.  Enter Application Pool name for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service

         and Search Service Account : Search

  6.  After Search Service is created, Click on OK.

        Navigate to Search Service Application by Clicking on it.

           To crawl sites, navigate to content source link on left panel under Content of Search Administration page.

Configure Managed Metadata Service in SharePoint 2013


         Step by step Configure Managed Metadata Service Application on SharePoint Farm.

Managed Metadata Service, use for Managed Metadata and share Content Types on Site Collections and 

If enable Managed Metadata Service Application, Managed Metadata Service will be automatically created. Service will identify the database to be served as term store and connection provides access to the service. All enterprise managed terms will be stored in the DB that is specified by managed metadata service. Whenever administrator creating connection to the service and publishing the managed metadata service, he need to know the URL of the service. We can also use managed metadata service to share content types.

To use of managed metadata, a web application require  to have connection to the managed metadata service. When managed metadata service is created, a connection will be created to the web application.

Follow the steps configure the managed Meta data service .

    1.  Open Central Administration----click--> Application management----click-->Manage service applications

   2.  Manage service applications--New--Managed Metadata Service.

   3. Provide the following

             Name:  Service Name.
             Database name: Service database Name.
             Application Pool: To run Application pool.

   Then Click OK

  Now the Managed Metadata service is configured.

After you create a connection to a managed metadata service, you can configure the following four options:

Default keyword location: Whether to store new enterprise keywords in the keyword set in the term store associated with this managed metadata service.

Default term set location: Whether to store the term sets that are created when you create new managed metadata site columns in this managed metadata service’s term store.

Use content types: Whether to make the content types that are associated with this managed metadata service (if any) available to users of sites in this web application. This option is available only if the service has a hub defined to share content types.

Push-down Content Type Publishing updates from the Content Type Gallery to sub-sites and lists using the content type: Whether to update existing instances of the changed content types in sub-sites and libraries.

Select the service--> Then click on Administrators (top ribbon), and assign administrator to the service
